The body of this delicate vessel was hand formed and the neck
thrown on a tiny potters wheel before adding the graceful pulled handles. Once
glazed, inside and out, it was fired and fired to more than 2200 degrees
Fahrenheit for strength and lasting beauty. Each of these tiny amphorae are
exceptionally labor intensive and completely one of a kind. Because of that, I
make very few of them each year.
This vessel measures approx. 1 7/8 inches (48 mm) high by 1 3/8 inches (36mm) wide. The
interior capacity is roughly 1.5 ml or approx. 1/3 dram.
These stoneware vessels are perfect for
essential oils used in aromatherapy or for fragrances used in custom and artisan
perfumes. The stoneware protects the oils from the damaging effects of light
while the cells of the cork allow very small amounts of the oils to migrate out
of the vessel. Take your perfume off at the end of the day rather than washing
it down the drain.
