Tips, Techniques and Tutorials | |
| Check back here to see ongoing information about various ceramics techniques, including handbuilding, working with roulettes, and various handy tricks for use around the studio. An article by Andi Fasimpaur appeared in the summer 2001 issue of Pottery Making Illustrated, the article, which is reprinted here, details the process by which Andi makes the roulettes which she uses to create the bands of repeated pattern so often seen on her work. The article is also reprinted in the book Pottery Making Techniques: A Pottery Making Illustrated Handbook published by the American Ceramic Society. The book is available directly from ACERS or from Amazon.com. I strongly recommend the book, not just for my own article but for the wealth of other information that it contains. Pinch Lesson A lesson Andi prepared on pinch techniques. Coil Lesson A lesson Andi prepared on coil techniques. Slab Lesson A lesson Andi prepared on slab techniques. General Bead Info Tips and techniques for making, glazing and firing ceramic beads. Bead Shapes and How to Make Them An introduction to common bead shapes and suggestions on how to make them. Please feel free to contact Andi at weblessons@mysticspiral.com if you have any questions about her work. Thank you for visiting, and please come again soon.
